If you’ve ever dreamed of visiting an island paradise, Negril, Jamaica is ideal because it’s a little beach haven of a town that’s easy to navigate, with beautiful beaches and affordable.

FYI, Jamaica is one of the most affordable – if not the most affordable – island in the Caribbean.

And one last thing – it’s gorgeous. I’ve been to a lot of countries and I was born and raised in Florida. So, I grew up with beautiful beaches. But I have to say for sheer beauty, Jamaica is one of the most wondrously stunning places I’ve ever seen on earth.

In my mind, that’s why the commercial says, “Once you go, you know.” The sheer beauty of this island just transports you. When the creator made “paradise;” he named it “Jamaica.”

Why This Ebook Was Written

This ebook was written to give students in an SEO writing class I taught in Jamaica (http://ow.ly/it24R). I wanted to give them some first-hand info they could use to have a good time, while being safe, in Jamaica.

It turned into a great little informative travel ebook, so I decided to offer it separate and apart from the more in-depth book it was excerpted from, ie, How to Work and Live Abroad from the Caribbean, which can be found at http://ow.ly/it2s3.

In this ebook, we focus on the basics of navigating Negril, where to eat and drink cheaply, where to stay, safety and a few other things you need to know.

Before we dive into the specifics though, following is a little about how I came to know Negril so well.

How/Why I Discovered and Moved to Jamaica

I’m American and moved to Negril part-time in March of 2010 (got my first apartment). I split my time between here and my home in the states (Atlanta, GA).

I come to Jamaica for one or two months, then go home – usually for three or four months at a time.

It’s an ideal life because I’m able to pursue my hobby (marathon running and one day hopefully, a “baby” triathlon) and still make a very good living as a freelance writer, author and self- publisher.

I first came to Negril in the summer of 2009. One of my sisters had been coming for years. She’d fallen head over heels in love with the country and in the summer of 2009, some friends and I decided to fly down and check out what she was always going on and on about – eg, the beauty, the people, the affordability, etc.

My sister decided that she wants to retire to Negril one day. As we’re very close, I knew I’d be coming back and forth a lot – hence my semi-move.

And, that’s how I became a regular visitor to this island. The longest time I’ve spent in the country at one time is 6 months. My shortest stay has been five days; it was my first visit.

Once you go, you’ll see that it’s an easy country to fall in love with; one you’ll want to return to as often – and for as long – as you can!
